Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej [now OnestiGheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej [now Onesti Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast in history to receive a score of a perfect of 10 during an Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi was the Romanian gymnastics trainer who became Comaneci's coach in later years, discovered her at age six. She participated in the Romanian Junior Championships and placed 13th. She won in 1970. In her very first international event in 1972 she took the top spot having won three golds. In 1975 she was awarded four golds and one silver medal in her debut senior international contest. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European Champion. The year was 1976 when she took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also became the first woman in history to dismount the parallel bars with a double backward salto. Her journey in the entertainment industry began during her teens when she started doing figure skating with her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois. Carol started her professional career as an entertainer in her teens. Early on she was a figure skater for traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. The shows featured ice skating performances that were followed by musical performances.
